Tens of thousands of fired federal workers must be reinstated immediately, judge rules
A federal judge on Thursday ordered federal agencies to reinstate tens of thousands of probationary employees who were fired amid President Donald Trump’s turbulent effort to drastically shrink the federal bureaucracy.
U.S. District Judge William Alsup described the mass firings as a “sham” strategy by the government’s central human resources office to sidestep legal requirements for reducing the federal workforce.

Apple Inc. is planning a new AirPods feature that allows the earbuds to live-translate an in-person conversation into another language, according to people with knowledge of the matter...the move promises to bring a Star Trek-like experience to AirPods users. The capability will work like this: If an English speaker is hearing someone talk in Spanish, the iPhone will translate the speech and relay it to the user’s AirPods in English. The English speaker’s words, meanwhile, will be translated into Spanish and played back by the iPhone.

ReplyDelete🤔 Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was just on Chris Hayes' show on MSNBC. Schumer is being hit from all sides to stand tough and allow a shutdown and I would usually agree that we should shutdown and make Republicans eat the problem. But, Schumer made two arguments I had not considered and I am now thinking a shutdown should be avoided.
ReplyDeleteFirst, during a shutdown, Republicans will have full control of what parts of the Federal government to shutdown...those guys do not make good choices. And, second, they could shut down the Federal courts system which is our most successful resistance to date. As bad as the CR is, I think we must let our best parts of government keep working! 💪
