Sigh. Deep sigh.
Amalia died at her own hand. She hung herself with an electrical cord in her apartment. Her mother found her after receiving a call from a concerned friend. She left a note of apology and love to her mother. The trauma for her mother...I cannot grasp. So unlike her to do this.
Amalia was positive person, all smiles, it is a family trait, a way of life. Everyone is stunned. An old friend messaged me that she recently saw her and she was SO HAPPY, she wrote it in caps.
Amalia's real grandmother came by this morning and we collapsed in each other's arms. Same with her great Auntie. They tried figuring out why and couldn't, as Amalia was such a thoughtful and kind person. This is so out of character for her.
We don't know why and can only guess at this time.
I needed to get this off of my chest, relieve the heaviness. And to let be known, what the consequences of one's actions do.
I pray for the best for Amalia and may all the gods bless her.

DeleteLisa, my life too has been touched by suicide. We can never know why, we can only hope they found the peace they sought. And you must carry on, relying on memories of happier times. Thank you for sharing with your faithful readers. We all ache for you.

ReplyDeleteThank you for writing, Gretchen. Her body will be brought to her mother's house tomorrow, which is next to my casita. After many gatherings, her funeral will be on Friday.
DeleteLisa, I am so sorry to hear this for all involved. It sounds like Amalia had so much to live for. A friend and long-time hiking buddy of mine that I knew for over 30 years took his own life in April. But in his case, he had mental health problems for many decades. In the last few months he developed physical problems as well that greatly limited his mobility and it became a quality of life issue for him. Take care.

In her case, it wasn’t a big surprise as she had emotional problems, but I realized that we can never know what is in someone else’s mind. Life can seem overwhelming at times.
