ReplyDeleteI'm gonna tell ya, though, that while I laughed at the quote attributed to Will Rogers, I was also taken aback. I figured that just can't be his quote because there's a bit more mean snark than he would have used about his grandpa. I know there are memes of this all over the web, but my research tells me two things. First, Rogers' Cherokee grandpas would have been dead before cars came to Oklahoma. Second, there are some sources that attributed this to Jack Handey, purveyor of super-snarkey "Deep Thoughts" on SNL for several years. This makes the most sense and preserves the un-snarkey folksiness of Will Rogers. 🥰ðŸ¤
