On this Memorial Day I always remember my Dad who signed up for the US Army the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed. He succumbed to war related injuries when I was 13 at the Veterans Hospital in Coral Gables, Florida. President John F. Kennedy sent a letter of thanks and acknowledgement for his service which meant the world to me. And yes, I am crying as I type this.

US special envoy Steve Witkoff has told CNN that a ceasefire-hostage deal for Gaza is currently on the table with a pathway to end the war, and urged Hamas to accept it.

The proposal would see the release of half of the living hostages and half of those who have died in exchange for a temporary ceasefire before negotiations begin for a comprehensive agreement to end the war.

President Donald Trump announced an unconditional pardon to a former Virginia sheriff who was sentenced last year to years in federal prison on corruption charges.

Former Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins was recently sentenced to a decade in federal prison after he was convicted last year of multiple charges related to accepting bribes in exchange for deputy appointments.

Time To Deflate Photo

This is Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1960. My Dad refurbished an old wooden 36 ft. Chris Craft nearby in 1958. He taught me everything about water safety, boat maintenance and fishing. Soon after he was offered a job as assistant manager at the port. I was lucky enough to tour dozens of military vessels at that time and a few submarines. Hence my love of the water, especially turquoise water. We are a product of our environment, after all.
