Gail and I had a winter shack in north western AZ where there are countless wild burros everywhere. One evening, while we were camping near the Colorado River, a couple of burros emerged a little too confidently from the mesquite bushes and startled our horses. The boys freaked out, tore down their pipe-railed travel pen in a spectacular fashion and then ran about a mile. I caught the tail end of it through the window when I heard the commotion. The pen was a vertical O in the sky before it crashed down into a pile of twisted pipes. Still not sure how they did that! We had to trail them on foot by following their hoof prints because the land was filled with little gullies that hid the horses. Fortunately, we were several miles from anything resembling a road and finally found them safe and sound and slightly embarrassed. With their pen destroyed, they had to spend the night tied to the side of the horse trailer. By some equestrian miracle, there were no injuries to either horse.
ReplyDelete🐔🐓 Holy Bird Poop!! The AgSec on TV genuflects for Sphincter Face, blames Biden for the price of eggs, cries about Obama/Biden regulations on big "Chicken Farma," and in answering a question about "Smaller Farma," said sure "I've got chickens; it's awesome!"
ReplyDeleteThe question was not about backyard chickens. It was about controlling bird flu by not having gigantic farms. But, anyway, do you hear it? Eggs are very expensive, but everyone (maybe, check local ordinances) can find the money to invest in 9 hens, two roosters, a strongly-buult coop, fencing to keep out predators, monthly feed bills (more in the winter with fewer eggs laid), extra water supplies, tools to clean the stinky ick out of the coop, and whatever else! One person on Reddit tracked costs and figured over the first two years, spent more than $2.24/per egg. And, even though recent chicken destruction due to bird flu has been 160 million birds, and an admission that it is wild birds spreading the disease to chickens, our AgSec casually encourages backyard flocks all over the country without protection from wild birds. Let's spread bird flu all over the suburbs! Maybe we can hasten the transfer of more cases to humans! Oh, goody!
It pains me that Republicans have so much trouble listening to their own brain farts and telling themselves to shut up! Yikes! 🐔🐓💩🤡
I had the same thoughts on the increased spread of bird flu caused by backyard coops, unprotected from exposure to wild birds.
DeleteI have another bird flu question. The answer is probably out there on the intertube and I'm just too ignorant to find it.
Eggs have gone way up because chickens are getting bird flu and have to be destroyed by the millions. So, how come chicken meat is not more expensive? Is there some fundamental difference between layers and fryers? Is it a scam by big chicken to gouge us on eggs? Is it because eggs don't try to cross the road? The only thing I've found so far is that production methods are different for meat than for eggs, but that doesn't tell me much. I would lean toward a scam, but that seems unlikely. What do you think? 🐓
(I'll take answers from anyone who doesn't have bird flu.)
🤪 Like a kid's game, you can now shout, "madeja look, Cleora!" This was what I found:
Deletehttps://meatborsa.com/en/blog/why-are-eggs-so-expensive-but-chicken-meat-isn-t
Just finished watching the lying liar lie his way through 90 minutes of some of the most ridiculous crapola I've ever heard. Blaming Biden for the high price of eggs is like blaming Zelensky for the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Well, OK not just like. The latter is obviously much worse.
ReplyDeleteIf I were there, I would have wanted to yell out that the Isis monster responsible for Abbey Gate that Pakistan helped arrest and extradite was released from prison in Afghanistan by, you guessed it, the Cheetolini during his first admin. along with a slew of other terrorists.
