White House: Supreme Court jeopardizes the health of women with Hobby Lobby ruling
The U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling that some business owners are not required to provide birth control coverage to employees puts women’s health at risk, the White House said on Monday, and called on Congress to make contraception widely available.

Bush Mercenary Effect
Newly disclosed documents show that a senior Blackwater employee stymied an investigation into the security contractor’s operations in Iraq by threatening to kill a State Department investigator, The New York Times reported. The documents, which included a memo from Aug. 31, 2007, raised questions about whether increased governmental oversight could have prevented the deaths of 17 Iraqi civilians killed by Blackwater contractors on Sept. 16, 2007, in Nisour Square, Baghdad.

Justice Ruth Bader Socks It To Chief Justice Roberts
Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg said the ruling on the Hobby Lobby case was based on a misreading of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and would likely open the door to a host of unintended consequences.

“Little doubt that RFRA claims will proliferate, for the Court’s expansive notion of corporate personhood – combined with its other errors in construing RFRA – invites for-profit entities to seek religion-based exemptions from regulations they deem offensive to their faith,” she wrote.

Massachusetts Abortion Clinics Boost Security After Supreme Court Ruling On Buffer Zones

Massachusetts Abortion Clinics Boost Security After Supreme Court Ruling On Buffer Zones
Massachusetts is beefing up security around abortion clinics and scrambling for a legal fix after the U.S. Supreme Court voided the state's buffer zone law that kept protesters 35 feet away, saying it violated freedom of speech.

Boston, Worcester and Springfield, the state's largest cities, have deployed extra police to clinics, and abortion-provider Planned Parenthood said it was training new "patient escorts" to help women through protests if needed.

REMINDER: Unlike screaming at women trying to get into clinics, Obamacare actually prevents abortions.- LOLGOP

Rand Paul Versus Dick Cheney
On the Sunday morning television shows this past weekend—against the backdrop of an Iraq in flames—former Vice President Dick Cheney and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) continued their ongoing feud and the battle for the (national security) soul of the Republican Party. In recent months, as Mother Jones has reported that Paul in 2009 accused Cheney of using 9/11 as an excuse to launch the Iraq invasion to benefit Halliburton (the corporation Cheney once led) and called on the GOP to disassociate itself with the former vice president, Cheney's allies have slammed the senator for expressing reckless positions.

The U.S. lost to Germany today, but because FIFA rules dictate that teams get one point for a tie, three points for a win, and zero points for a loss, and both the U.S. and Portugal had a score of four, and because the U.S. had a higher goal differential, the U.S. still advances. Supreme Court strikes down abortion clinic buffer zone

Supreme Court strikes down abortion clinic buffer zone
Abortion remains an issue that divides the Supreme Court, but the justices had less disagreement Thursday in defending the free speech rights of abortion opponents.

The court ruled unanimously that Massachusetts went too far -- literally -- when it created 35-foot buffer zones around abortion clinics to keep demonstrators away from patients.

Spy vs. Spy vs Spy
U.S. military advisors arriving in Iraq better be careful who they talk to and where they go: Their Iraq ‘allies’ will almost certainly be spying on them.

According to three current and former CIA officers, the Iraqi government, led by Muslim Shiites with close ties to Iran, has waged an aggressive campaign against the spy agency and other U.S. security personnel in the country for several years.  “They cover us like a blanket,” says former CIA official
